Job Description

At Buttercup, you will be responsible for consistently supporting the bar team in the endeavor to present an approachable and elevated experience by following Buttercup service standards. As a barback, you will welcome guests warmly, keep the bar organized, clean, and stocked with all service related items and necessities. Other duties include being knowledgeable about menu items, preparing the bar for service and ensuring it is in pristine condition. Success in this role requires a duty to hospitality, teamwork, and obsession with details.

A Buttercup team member holds themselves and their teammates accountable to the Buttercup service standards and values. A Buttercup bar team member is approachable, engaging, and polished!

 

Main Duties:

  • Work varying shift times across the seven days, to include working evenings, weekends, opens & closes
  • Prepare all cocktail program components including juices, syrups, garnishes, and batches
  • Label, date, and initial all perishable items accurately
  • Assist with receiving, unboxing, stocking, and organizing liquor deliveries
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of all beverage prep areas
  • Check freshness of ingredients and rotate stock accordingly
  • Communicate with management on par adjustments due to overages or shortages
  • Recommend updates to prep sheets for improved efficiency
  • As needed, assist kitchen team with stocking deliveries
  • Uphold responsible alcohol service standards
  • Wash, polish, and restock glassware
  • Serve guests at the bar top
  • Assist the bar team during service with prep work and drink running
Required Skills/Qualifications
  • Must be over the age of 21
  • Minimum of 2+ years’ experience in a similar capacity
  • Serv-Safe, Allergen and Basset Certified with POS knowledge
  • Fine dining experience preferred
  • Knowledge of basic bar practices
  • Maintain a sharp, neatly-groomed and polished appearance at all times
  • Must be hospitable, approachable, passionate about customer service and respectful towards colleagues and guests
  • Punctual, reliable and trustworthy with a sense of urgency
  • Must be able to work flexible shifts and schedules across seven days, including weekends and holidays as needed
  • Thrive in elevated, fast-paced environments and maintain a calm professional demeanor, effectively problem solving under pressure
  • Must be able to demonstrate competency as outlined in the training schedule

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to stand, walk, lift, and bend for long periods of time
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, lift, reach, push, twist, walk, crouch, and squat
