At G3 Fire, LLC, we take pride in creating custom-built copolymer polypropylene products including water and foam tanks for fire trucks as well as a comprehensive selection of extremely durable products, brackets, and accessories.

Position Summary

The CAD (Computer-Aided Design) Engineer - Designer uses CAD equipment to prepare layouts, detailed drawings, assembly drawings, sketches and diagrams from customer orders. This position also nests parts to be machined, applies machining operations to the nested poly sheets, and analyzes time estimates for job completion.

Responsibilities/Essential Functions

  • Lay out and draw schematic, orthographic, or angle views to depict functional relationships of components, assemblies, systems, and machines.
  • Produce three-dimensional models, using computer-aided design (CAD) software per specifications
  • and industry standards.
  • Review and analyze specifications, sketches, drawings, ideas, and related data to assess factors affecting component designs and the procedures and instructions to be followed.
  • Create technical drawings of project designs for customer approvals and details for the shop production.
  • Check dimensions of materials to be used to ensure design meets specifications and is capable of being produced.
  • Compute mathematical formulas to develop and design detailed specifications for components or machinery, using computer-assisted equipment.
  • Collaborate with other key players to design, lay out, or detail components to resolve design or other problems.
  • Create new design methods to meet specifications and industry standards and increase efficiency.
  • Confer with customer representatives to review schematics and answer questions pertaining to design and layout of product
  • Create technical drawings of project designs for customer approvals and details for the shop production.
  • Program, test, and revise machine programming. Sequence automatic machine operations and select cutting tools.
  • Participate in meetings or initiatives, as appropriate for position
  • Represent the Company to the community in a positive manner, consistent with its marketing and customer goals
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Prefer Associates degree in Computer Drafting or a minimum of 1-year work experience with AutoCAD or Solid Works
  • Ability to read blueprints is required,
  • Ability to proactively solve problems while analyzing possible solutions
  • Self-starter with good time management and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication skills, including verbal, written and listening skills
  • A team-player, working together with internal and external customers, providing insight when needed and able to be flexible when goals or outcomes differ
  • Able to learn and relay technical information
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and basic office equipment
  • Prefer experience with Advanced CAD programs and fire industry

Physical Requirements

This job operates primarily in an office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. This position occasionally works in an industrial environment and may be exposed to dust, fumes, hazardous chemicals, and loud noises and changes in temperature. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to remain in a stationary position. The employee is frequently required to talk, hear, sit, stand; walk; use hands to finger; and reach with hands and arms. The employee may occasionally lift 50+ lbs.

Working hours

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Thursday, with occasional Friday if necessary.
