Construction Project Manager – Commercial General Contractor – Houston, TX

A well-established Commercial General Contractor in Houston is seeking a skilled and driven Project Manager to join their team. The company specializes in ground-up construction projects across K-12, Municipal, Religious, and Office sectors, with project values ranging from $5M to $45M .

Residential or multi-family only experience is not applicable for this role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the entire life cycle of ground-up commercial construction projects , from preconstruction through to closeout.
  • Develop and maintain project budgets, schedules, and work plans in collaboration with field and office teams.
  • Coordinate with clients, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and city officials to ensure all project milestones and requirements are met.
  • Oversee subcontractor procurement, scope definition, contract negotiations, and change order management.
  • Ensure all work is performed to company and industry standards with respect to quality, safety, and compliance .
  • Lead weekly project meetings, maintain thorough documentation, and provide regular updates to stakeholders.
  • Work closely with Superintendents to ensure field execution aligns with project goals.
  • Proactively identify and mitigate risks or delays throughout the construction process.
  • Maintain strong relationships with clients, vendors, and internal teams to support a collaborative and solutions-focused environment.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience as a Project Manager with a Commercial General Contractor , delivering ground-up projects in the K-12, Office, Religious, or Municipal sectors.
  • Proven ability to manage projects from preconstruction through final delivery in the Houston area .
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, contracts, scheduling, and budgeting.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in project management software (e.g., Procore, MS Project, Bluebeam, or similar ).
  • A track record of strong job tenures – candidates with frequent job changes will not be considered.
  • Must be able to manage multiple priorities and lead diverse project teams effectively.
