Herdsman Position available on a 350 cow, family-owned, modern dairy farm in central Maine. Responsible for the health and reproduction of mature cattle and heifers. Including heat detection, breeding or working with breeding technician and treatment of fresh and sick cows. Will work with veterinarian and follow all established protocols covering mastitis, hoof health, calving and record keeping (Dairy Plan). Will manage the hospital facility, which includes milking and treating all sick and fresh cows. The successful candidate will have good communication skills and the ability to work with others as well as alone. Benefits: housing, utilities after 3 months a simple IRA is offered.
