Job Description

We have partnered with a client in Washington DC to identify a Director of Finance to lead financial planning, budgeting, and analysis functions throughout the organization. This role is responsible for ensuring fiscal responsibility and efficiency by developing robust budgets, conducting in-depth variance analysis, and delivering accurate financial forecasts to support strategic decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the annual budgeting process across departments, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and operational efficiency.
  • Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual budget performance and prepare detailed variance analysis reports.
  • Develop and maintain rolling forecasts to anticipate financial outcomes and inform strategic planning.
  • Collaborate with department heads to understand financial needs and provide data-driven insights for resource allocation.
  • Prepare and present financial reports, including trend analysis, risk assessments, and scenario modeling, to senior leadership and stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations, internal policies, and audit requirements.
  • Implement and improve financial systems, tools, and processes to increase forecasting accuracy and financial transparency.
  • Supervise and mentor a team of finance professionals, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and accountability.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field
  • Master's degree or CPA certification preferred
  • 8+ years of progressive finance experience, with at least 2-3 years in a leadership role.
  • Proven track record in financial planning & analysis (FP&A), budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Experience working with ERP systems and advanced Excel skills required.
  • Exceptional analytical and quantitative skills, with strong attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with BI tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) and financial modeling software.
  • Expertise in budget development, monitoring, and variance analysis.
  • Ability to translate complex financial data into actionable insights.
  • Knowledge of GAAP and internal controls best practices.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong leadership and team management capabilities.
  • Adept at strategic thinking and problem-solving in a fast-paced environment.
