Job Description

This position is based out of  Eighty Four, PA. The position will primarily be focused on maintaining GIS data and producing mapping for the environmental group. The GIS Technician will provide mapping support, GPS support, and perform/develop GIS modeling. A limited amount of GPS fieldwork may be required.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• QA/QC field data
• Trimble GPS background files and data dictionaries
• Geodatabase maintenance
• Feature creation and data editing
• Create maps and tables
• Proficiency with Excel, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Enterprise, and AutoCAD

EXPERIENCE

• Preferred 5+ years of previous experience working with ESRI GIS applications editing GIS data, producing maps, and performing spatial analysis
• Bachelor’s Degree in GIS, Geography, Landscape Architecture, Computer Science, or related field
• Strong attention to detail
• Knowledge of projections and coordinate systems
• Ability to understand and use permit maps
• Ability to learn new software and GIS systems quickly
• Ability to work closely with people from various disciplines (Land, Permitting, and Engineering)
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, workflows, and processes/procedures
• Must have excellent communication skills
• Must be able to multi-task and prioritize work across a number of projects and initiatives

Preferred knowledge, skills and abilities for this position will also include:

• AutoCAD training or experience
• Knowledge of coal mining
• Knowledge of environmental permitting
• Knowledge of stream design

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Must be 18 years of age
• Bachelor’s Degree in related field
• Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license
• Reliable transportation
• Regular and punctual attendance
• Compliance with company policies, procedures and safety standard
• Must be capable to clearly, effectively, and appropriately communicate in written, electronic and verbal forms
• Must perform in compliance with all local, state and federal regulations
• Must be capable of effectively, efficiently and accurately performing duties
• Must be able to successfully pass a post offer drug test and background check
• Must be able to successfully complete industry approved training courses
• Must be able to work safely and effectively as part of a team or independently
• Ability to work in the United States without sponsorship

JOB SCHEDULE AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• Must be able to work overtime, weekends and holidays as needed or as schedule requires (subject to applicant’s religious practices)
• This position is primarily a dayshift position. However, must be able to work overtime (subject to applicant’s religious practices)
• Work occasionally outdoors in hot, cold and rainy conditions (15% or less of the time)
• Traverse uneven, rocky, wet, slippery, and muddy terrain when outdoors (frozen, icy surfaces in winter).
• Must be capable of working in and around active mining areas and with industrial equipment
