Hours : 32 hours per week; Tuesday - Friday, 8:30 am – 5:00 pm

Pay Rate: $26.45 - $31.25 per hour

Education : High School/GED diploma strongly preferred

As an Interpreter, you will :

Support the program staff and clients by providing ASL interpreting services.

• Provide interpretation during triage, assessments, group therapy, individual therapy, nursing, psychiatry appointments, and during telephone calls.
• Provide general clerical/reception support to the program as needed.
• Depending upon needs of the program and clients, may be expected to provide interpretation during telehealth services.
• Work collaboratively with all other members of the program team.
• May provide interpreting services to other programs as needed.

Additional Qualifications and Skills

• Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) is required for this position including knowledge of terminology related to behavioral health and medical terminology
• Certified as ASL Interpreter strongly preferred
• Minimum of one year of experience as a translator or interpreter preferred
• Excellent phone etiquette, attention to detail, ability to multi-task and maintain confidentiality required
• Previous experience in a similar mental health or healthcare program is desirable
• A valid California driver’s license in good standing, personal vehicle, and proof of insurance are required to fulfill the essential functions of this position
• Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office
• Must be able to pass criminal/background clearance

Our Adult Outpatient Programs (Areta Crowell Wellness Recovery Center, Douglas Young Wellness Recovery Center, Heartland Wellness Recovery Center, Jane Westin Center, Maria Sardinas Wellness Recovery Center, and South Bay Guidance Center) provide behavioral health services including psychiatric and clinical assessment, treatment planning, ongoing medication services, individual and group counseling, case management, crisis intervention, mobile outreach, vocational support, and peer support. We deliver fully integrated services to adult clients diagnosed with a serious mental illness, as well as individuals with co-occurring, mental health, and substance use disorders.

All of our outpatient programs also provide full-time walk-in services. Our programs utilize evidence-based practices to assist our clients in reaching their goals and to live the highest quality of life while managing their mental illness.
