Must Have Qualifications (Highlighted):Minimum 1 year of prior OB Tech or Surgical Tech experience in an acute care setting is required.
Must be a Certified OB Technician.
Must have active BLS certification through AHA.
The OB Scrub Technician plays a vital role in the surgical suite, working under the supervision of a Registered Nurse to provide both direct and indirect patient care. This is a multi-skilled role requiring flexibility, organization, and a commitment to patient safety.
Responsibilities Include:
Assisting in surgical procedures such as Cesarean Section, Hysterectomy, Dilation and Curettage, and others.
Maintaining sterile techniques including proper scrubbing, gowning, and gloving.
Preparing the OR table and passing instruments during procedures, ensuring accurate sponge and instrument counts.
Stocking supplies and ensuring readiness of instruments for OR, PACU, and labor/delivery areas.
Responding promptly to patient/family requests and call lights.
Assisting in emergency situations with calm and appropriate behavior.
Communicating patient needs and any changes in condition to the RN.
Handling patient belongings appropriately during transfers or discharge.
Ensuring proper use and care of equipment and maintaining a safe environment.
Minimum 1 year of OB Tech or Surgical Tech experience in an acute care setting is required.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Ability to remain calm in high-pressure/emergency situations.
Experience with obstetric surgical procedures and sterile techniques.
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Certified OB Technician (Required)
BLS Certification through AHA (Required)
Adherence to NJ Department of Health regulations, JCAHO standards, and hospital policies.
Upholding professional ethics and standards in clinical practice.
