Job Title: Certified Phlebotomist

Specialty: Phlebotomy

Site: Fresno VA Medical Center, Pathology and Laboratory Medicine (P&LM) Service

Location: 2615 E. Clinton Ave., Fresno, CA 93703

Duration: 4 months contract with the possibility of 4 months extension.

Shift Schedule: Rotating 8-hour shifts (day, evening, and night), including weekends and federal holidays. 24/7 coverage required. Overtime permitted with prior authorization

License / Certifications:

• California State Certified Phlebotomy Technician Certificate
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Education: Must meet California requirements for Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) credential.

Minimum Qualification/ Experience:

• Minimum 6 months of venipuncture experience in a clinic or hospital setting

Responsibilities:

• Perform phlebotomy services (venipunctures, specimen handling) in a hospital setting
• Adhere to VA facility rules, regulations, and medical staff bylaws
• Complete mandatory VA training (Information Security, HIPAA, Infection Control, Patient Safety, Compliance, etc.) before starting and annually thereafter
• Maintain up-to-date immunizations and tests (TB, Rubella, Hepatitis B, etc.)
• Follow OSHA standards for bloodborne pathogens and infection control
• Work collaboratively with VA staff to ensure timely and accurate laboratory services
• Provide services in compliance with VA Core Values (ICARE) and federal guidelines
