Job Description

Our Billing Co. is seeking a full-time  Medical Billing Supervisor  to join our team! The Medical Billing Supervisor  will oversee and manage the medical billing team, ensuring accurate and timely billing processes for services rendered by healthcare providers. This role involves supervising the billing staff, coordinating with clinical and administrative teams, resolving billing discrepancies, and ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations and payer policies. The Medical Billing Supervisor will also be responsible for optimizing billing workflows and ensuring the efficient submission of claims to secure reimbursement for healthcare services.

Essential Functions:

Leadership Team Functions:

  • Acts as staff resource and role model for ethical, professional conduct.
  • Supervises and manages the day-to-day activities of the medical billing team, ensuring efficient and accurate billing practices.
  • Monitors team performance, productivity, and accuracy, providing feedback and conducting performance evaluations.
  • Participates in the hiring, onboarding, and ongoing training processes of Billing Specialists.
  • Delegates duties and projects to appropriate staff, and monitors for accurate and prompt completion.
  • Stays appraised of changing healthcare trends and leverages technology and automation.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of safety policies and procedures, and actively maintains a safe and positive work environment.
  • Carries out other assignments or special project needs as required.

Role Specific Functions:

  • Reviews and ensures the timely submission of claims to insurance providers and other payers, ensuring compliance with all payer policies.
  • Resolves any billing discrepancies, rejections, or denials, and work with the team to ensure timely follow-up on outstanding claims.
  • Develops, implement, and maintain policies and procedures to ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and payer-specific guidelines.
  • Collaborates with clinical, coding, and insurance verification teams to ensure accurate billing and resolve issues affecting billing operations.
  • Analyzes billing data to identify trends or issues and develop strategies for improvement in the billing process.
  • Ensures compliance with HIPAA regulations and safeguard patient information at all times.
  • Prepares and present regular reports on billing performance, revenue cycle metrics, and outstanding claims to management.

Minimum/Preferred Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree in Health Information Management, Healthcare Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • Certification as a Certified Professional Biller (CPB) or similar medical billing certification required.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in medical billing, with at least 1 year of supervisory or leadership experience.
  • Experience with medical billing software, electronic health records (EHR) systems, and payer portals.
  • Familiarity with ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS coding, and payer-specific billing requirements.
  • Experience in claims processing, denials management, and reimbursement policies is highly preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • In-depth knowledge of medical billing procedures, codes, and regulatory requirements.
  • Strong understanding of insurance claims processing, coding, and reimbursement systems.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and support a team.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Ability to resolve billing discrepancies, denials, and coding errors efficiently.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and medical billing software applications.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy in billing and data entry.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations

This job will be fully remote.

Our Billing Co. offers a competitive benefits package!

Pay Range: $52,000 - $73,000

Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to market data, education, experience, qualifications, and expertise of the individual and internal equity considerations.
