Job Description

The pastry department prepares all breads, desserts and frozen desserts in-house. Professional baking / pastry experience is required to be considered for this position, degree optional. The ideal candidate must have a well-rounded knowledge of kitchen operations and techniques, enjoy a learning kitchen and is an experienced, hard-working and committed culinary professional who shares in our mission of providing the finest quality New Orleans fare to our guests. We are dedicated to continuing the rich history of New Orleans through locally inspired and nationally recognized cuisine.

Our restaurants are avid supporters of local farmers. Each of our restaurants accentuates Louisiana’s culinary history through the use of local ingredients and techniques. The entire team at Dickie Brennan & Company remains dedicated to delivering superior dining experiences through serving locally sourced, updated versions of classic New Orleans cuisine in our four French Quarter restaurants.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Working in an all-scratch kitchen with fresh, seasonal ingredients
  • Preparing and executing menu items according to recipes and company standards
  • Ensuring a superior experience beyond our Guests’ expectations
  • Positive energy with a passion for learning, hospitality and baking/pastry
  • Ability to work quickly and efficiently in a fast-paced, teamwork environment
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Uphold proper safety and sanitation habits at all times
  • Prior baking/pastry and/or culinary experience in an upscale, high-volume environment
  • Strong communication skills and work ethic
  • Other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma. Some college and/or college degree preferred. 
  • Minimum of 3 years industry experience with at least 1 year supervisory/management experience.
  • Ability to read and write in English with excellent verbal, interpersonal and communication skills
  • ServSafe certification required (can be received in-house)
  • Strong organizational, multi-tasking, time management, follow-up and analytical skills with solid attention to detail and accuracy
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs
  • Internet skills including use of e-mails (Microsoft Outlook) and information gathering
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment with a customer service orientation
  • Strong managerial skills and able to successfully prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities
  • Work is performed in a restaurant with varied temperatures. Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods of time, bend, stoop, reach, crouch, kneel, lift, push and pull. May occasionally lift, push, pull or move items weighing up to 30 pounds.
  • Manual dexterity is essential. Must possess finger dexterity to use restaurant and office equipment adeptly
  • Must be able to dependably work 50 hours per week; able to work a varied and flexible schedule as necessary to manage and operate the restaurant effectively
  • Must adhere to the established appearance, hygiene, and dress code guidelines
  • Ability to adhere to and comply with all rules and regulations of the company
