Job Description
Description We are looking for a dedicated Payroll Supervisor/Manager/Director to oversee payroll operations for a large non-profit organization in San Diego, California. The ideal candidate will ensure compliance with California labor laws, manage biweekly payroll for a workforce of 5,000 employees, and drive process improvements to achieve operational excellence. This role demands exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and a deep understanding of payroll systems and regulations.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage biweekly payroll processing for a workforce of 5,000 employees, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Ensure compliance with all California labor laws, wage and hour regulations, and payroll tax requirements.
- Lead, mentor, and support a payroll team to meet deadlines and maintain high standards of performance.
- Evaluate and enhance payroll processes to improve efficiency and ensure adherence to organizational policies.
- Collaborate with internal departments to resolve payroll discrepancies and address employee concerns professionally.
- Maintain and analyze payroll records to ensure accuracy and compliance with tax reporting requirements.
- Provide expertise in the use of payroll systems such as ADP and UKG Pro, and support transitions or upgrades as needed.
- Develop and implement administrative procedures to optimize payroll operations and ensure data confidentiality.
- Prepare and submit payroll tax filings, including local and federal reports, in a timely manner.
- Promote a culture of professionalism, collaboration, and excellent customer service within the payroll team. Requirements
- Extensive experience managing payroll for large organizations, preferably with over 500 employees.
- In-depth knowledge of California labor laws, payroll taxes, and related accounting practices.
- Proficiency in payroll systems such as ADP and UKG Pro, with a preference for candidates familiar with non-profit operations.
- Certified Payroll certification strongly preferred.
- Intermediate in Excel.
- Strong analytical abilities to assess processes, ensure compliance, and recommend improvements.
- Exceptional organizational and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proven ability to handle confidential information with attention to detail and discretion.
