Responsibilities

Ascension Saint Agnes is looking for a PRN Physician Assistant for our Pediatric Emergency Department.

This is a great opportunity for the right candidate to partner with Ascension Saint Agnes to provide medical services to patients.

Responsibilities:

• Provide direct diagnostic, therapeutic, and preventive health care services under the supervision of a physician.
• Obtain patient history and perform assessment. Order, perform and interpret diagnostic procedures.
• Provide and document direct treatment and management of health conditions.
• Provide counseling and education of patients and their families/caregivers concerning preventative health, treatment options and community resources.
• Perform preventative health assessments, screening, immunizations and care.

Requirements

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Licensed Physician Assistant credentialed from the Maryland Board of Physicians obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required. Approved Delegation Agreement by the Maryland state Board of Physician Quality Assurance (BPQA) through Maryland Dept of Mental Health and Hygiene. Verified by local Credentialing Office.
• Certified Physician Assistant credentialed from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) preferred.

Education:

• Successful completion of an NCCPA Accredited PA Program required. Per Maryland Board of Physicians: Applicants who graduate from an accredited physician assistant educational program after October 1,
  2003, must have a baccalaureate degree or the equivalent education to a baccalaureate degree.
• Bachelor of Science in Physician Assistant or related healthcare major preferred.

Work Experience:

• Hospital Based Training in Acute Care required.
• Two years in clinical practice or as a Physician’s Assistant in emergency department, intensive care unit, internal medicine, or hospitalist service preferred.
• One year surgical and/or in-patient management and Surgical first-assist experience preferred.
