Summary

The Senior Lead Engineer, Software shall be responsible for developing, debugging, validating and deploying Network Operating System (NOS) SW code to be deployed in switches and routers that are targeted for DataCenter/AI-DC, Enterprise and Campus markets.  This is a pure individual contributor (IC) role and the ideal candidate is required to have a strong background in NOS architecture, L2/L3 protocol development. 


The Senior Lead Engineer, Software works in cross functional teams with other designers, customers, manufacturing engineering and project leadership to ensure robust and high quality product development. Enhance designs with feedback from reviews in areas such as manufacturing, test, supply chain, reliability, industrial design and simulations.

Detailed Description

Performs tasks such as, but not limited to, the following:

  • Lead the design, development and implementation of technical solutions in multiple domains. Participate in project planning and scheduling.
  • Provide technical leadership and direction to a team of engineers. May be a recognized expert (go to person) in one or more technical areas
  • Review, interpret and may negotiate customer requirements/specifications and provide customer feedback
  • Lead the deployment of strategic programs and coordinate site-wide deployment efforts.
  • Proactively promote industry best practices
  • May manage relationships with key vendors/partners.
  • Analyze, design and develop tests and test-automation suites.
  • Design and develop a processing platform using various configuration management technologies.
  • Test software development methodology (may be done in agile environment)
  • Provide ongoing maintenance, support and enhancements in existing systems and platforms.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with customers, users, project managers and other engineers including Peer-Reviews to achieve elegant solutions.
  • Provide recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Work alongside other engineers on the team to elevate technology and consistently apply best practices.
  • Keep up to date with relevant industry knowledge and regulations

Knowledge/Skills/Competencies

  • Networking Stack- Layer-2(xSTP, LLDP, LACP etc) , Layer-3 (BGP, OSPF, PIM etc) , IPSec, IKE, GRE, EVPN/VxLAN, MPLS, QoS

  • Management -SNMP, Netconf/Yang, REST, CLI, gNMI, gRPC

  • System Features - Platform Bringup (Including implementing linux Device drivers), Stacking, High Availability etc.

  • Programming Language - C, C++, Python, GoLang languages

  • NOS - Experience in NOS development/sustenance.

  • SONIC NOS experience is a plus point

  • ASICs/NPU. Working experience with Broadcom preferred but not required - XGS/DNX family of Devices and/or Marvell - Innovium/Prestera Family of devices

  • Project Management - Ability to manage a single line engineering project with a limited number of participants. Create a project/change management plan, establish and distribute project roles, and communicate what is needed from the project participants in order to make the project successful.

  • Leadership - Demonstrate "People & Team Leadership Behaviors" as per Celestica Leadership Imperatives.

  • Financial Acumen / Business Planning - Ability to create financial plans for your projects, align them internally with your line of management and other functions and externally if needed. Create project plans, profitability calculations, risk and sensitivity analysis, able to recognize barriers and mitigate profitability risks. Fully knowledgeable about internal and external financial reporting, accounting and tax requirements relevant to your area of expertise.

Physical Demands

  • Duties of this position are performed in a normal office environment.
  • Duties may require extended periods of sitting and sustained visual concentration on a computer monitor or on numbers and other detailed data. 
  • Repetitive manual movements (e.g., data entry, using a computer mouse, using a calculator, etc.) are frequently required.
  • Occasional travel may be required.
